The SoHi Building site and its SOHI District are essentially the center of the Near West Side and the crossroads for six different west side neighborhoods. The population within a one mile radius is over 32,000. Further, within this same 1 mile radius there are 1,161 employers and 24,150 employees. Some of the major area employers include Milwaukee County, Marquette University, AT&T, Miller Brewing, Harley Davidson, Aurora Sinai, and a number of Milwaukee’s Downtown employers (Downtown Milwaukee is only 1 mile away from the SoHi Building.). Traffic at the intersection of 27th and Wells Streets, the SoHi Building’s corner, exceeds 22,000 cars per day; when the traffic from 27th and Wisconsin is added in the total is over 44,000 cars per day. This traffic includes people from various locations within the City and the metropolitan area. I94, directly accessible within ½ mile of the site, provides access to all parts of the Milwaukee metropolitan area and the Midwest; this I94 connection is an outstanding asset for the Near West Side, 27th Street, and the SoHi Building site. The Menomonee River Valley, which forms the southern boundary of the Near West Side, is experiencing a revival with the several major developments including a light industrial park. It is important to note that some of these statistics are exceptional, and in a number of instances, exceed those of other popular Milwaukee areas.
